Baritone Andrew McTaggart is currently is his last year of studies at the Alexander Gibson Opera School at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly RSAMD) with George Gordon and Kathleen McKellar-Ferguson. During
his time at the conservatoire he has won The Governors Recital Prize in 2010 and The Florence Veitch Ibler Prize for Oratorio Singing and has worked in masterclasses with Malcolm Martineau, Lisa Milne, Jane Eaglan and the late Paul Kiesgen.

Andrew has performed the roles of ‘Matveyev’ in the critically acclaimed performances of War and Peace (RSAMD); performing in Glasgow, Edinburgh and in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. Other roles include ‘Badger’ in Cunning Little Vixen (RSAMD), ‘Antonio’ in Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro (RSAMD) and 'Copelius' in The Tales of Hoffman (RSAMD). Andrew also performed in the premiere of Tom Cunningham’s chamber opera The Okavango Macbeth which was recorded for future release on CD.

Solo oratorio performances include Handel Messiah in the Usher Hall, Edinburgh and Goodall Eternal Light with the Belfast Philharmonic Choir and Ulster Orchestra in the Ulster Hall, Belfast, Bach St John Passion with St Andrews Choral Society and Bach St Matthew Passion with Cleveland Choral Society. He has been heard on BBC Radio 3 Singing Let Us Garlands Bring by Gerald Finzi as part of the Crear Scholarship with Malcolm Martineau. Future engagements include Vaughan Williams Fantasia on Christmas Carols in the Click Sargent's Carol Concert at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

Andrew was a member of the National Youth Choir of Scotland from 2003 until 2010 performing with it in the London Proms, Chicago, Germany and Hungary. He was baritone soloist in the recent NYCoS 15th Aniversary Gala performance of Walton Belshazzar's Feast. 

Away from singing Andrew is currently the writer and presenter of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra’s Monster Music, Musical Director of Troon Chorus and co-director of Caledonian Voices. In September he became joint director of NYCoS East Dunbartonshire Boys Choir and will direct NYCoS National Boys Choir Junior Corps in 2012.
